Covid-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 VACCINE AVAILABLE

Beckenham Medical Centre has been approved to provide COVID-19 vaccines to support the rollout of the Australian Government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.
Our COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics will run onsite at our Medical Centre practice and are available for all eligible patients, while stocks last. Morning and afternoon clinic
appointments are available Monday & Wednesday (Pfizer) and Thursday (Astrazeneca). COVID-19 vaccines will only be available during our vaccination clinics and cannot be offered during a routine appointment.

Given the shorter appointment times for our COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics, appointments can only be used for the administration of the vaccine. If you have any other health related matters that you wish to discuss, we advise you to book a separate appointment with your regular GP prior to your vaccination appointment date.

We currently have stocks of both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines available at Beckenham Medical Centre. Stock levels keep changing depending on
expiration, usage and supply. We will advise you of availability at the time of booking.

BOOKINGS: Bookings for our COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics can only be made by phoning (08) 94512722 or speaking to our reception staff in person.

You will require 2 doses, given at the recommended number of weeks apart, and your second dose will be booked at the same time. Those receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine will require a second dose of AstraZeneca four to 12 weeks after your first dose. Those receiving the Pfizer vaccine will require their second dose at least 21 days after receiving the first dose.
If you are new to the practice, you will be required to register and book in for a consult with a doctor first before you can have a vaccination appointment. We will try our best to offer you both on the same day, but there may be instances when you we are unable to do that.

You will be required to wait at our practice for a further 15-30 minutes after your vaccination, to ensure there are no major reactions to the vaccine. Attendance at our COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be fully bulk-billed and thevaccine is free.

As we have only been allocated a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, bookings will fill up quickly. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment, so that it can be offered to another patient.
If you are unwell on the day, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can reschedule your appointment. There is no cost for last minute cancellations.

BOOSTER DOSES

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recently recommended the use of a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine for those aged 18 years and older who completed their primary COVID-19 vaccine course at least 6 months or more ago. A booster dose is to make sure that the protection from the first doses is even stronger and longer lasting and to help prevent spread of the virus.

Those who fall into the highest priority groups or those at increased occupational risk of COVID-19 will be prioritised to receive their booster dose first.
